I always suggest picking a favorite movie of yours. Try to pick a subject of your choice to think about. Here’s a simple exercise you can perform to figure out if your mind is blank or not. There definitely can be an absence of chatter or even a lack of attention (more about this below), but there are definitely thoughts in your mental space when you examine closely.

Yes, depersonalization or dissociation does seem to affect the way one thinks. I’m not saying what you are experiencing is not unusual. If you examine this carefully you’ll see that these are actually thoughts. Most people who experience a blank mind will actually think to themselves something along the lines of “I have no thoughts!” or “My mind is blank!”.
